CLUBPERSON OF THE YEAR

CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR
Glynn Barntown ladies Catherine Carley and Celestine Fox were very worthy joint recipients of this years Glynn Barntown “Clubperson of the Year” award at a Wexford District reception held in the Riverbank House Hotel on Saturday evening. Both ladies have given decades of service to the club in a variety of ways and we are most proud to see them honoured for this. We offer them both our congratulations and a heartfelt thanks for their dedication and hard work. Leinster Hurling League U15

We had another great come back in the Leinster hurling league against Naas on Saturday afternoon and this time it was our u15s. The boys showed plenty of hurling ability with Tim Gilhooly scoring probably the club’s point of the year so far, running down the sideline with no intention of crossing over it and straight over the bar! Jake Travers’ goal at the end gave us a one point victory 4:8 to 2:13 to set us up for an away game to Myshall in Carlow in 2 weeks time.

COACHING FORUM

Paul Carty is giving a presentation on the physical development of players from the early years at 8pm this Friday in the clubhouse. It promises to be a very informative evening and will include some demonstrations of age appropriate exercises.

MINOR FOOTBALL

Hard luck to our Minor footballers who put in a strong performance against St Martins in the Premier football semi final in Tagoat on Saturday morning. The opposition had the benefit of a strong breeze in the opening half and went into the interval 4 points up 0-6 to 0-2 with our 2 points coming from placed balls by Michael Carroll.
In the second half despite an early 1-1 from St Martins the Glynn Barntown lads worked extremely hard and a heavy tackle on Dylan Lyne awarded us a penalty which was neatly netted by Michael Carroll along with a pointed free.  Two excellent points from Cormac Rowe and one from Dylan Lyne put just a point between the teams and Glynn Barntown were just gaining momentum when the Martin’s raised the green flag again and pointed one more.  A point from Bill Joyce and a Liam Berry point in extra time brought the deficit to three before time ran out. Final score 2-8 to 1-8.

U14 Football Shield Final
